Introduction to Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator) CACHE Certificate Level 2 at Bradford College

Course description

The aim of this qualification is to prepare you to work with children between birth and five years, with knowledge of children up to seven years. 

This qualification is suitable if you are aged 16+ and have little or no experience in childcare.














Course content

This comprises 16 Units including:

  • Development
  • Partnership Working
  • Safeguarding
  • Inclusion
  • Health & Exercise
  • The Role of the Early Years Professional
  • Health & Safety
  • Observation

and a minimum of 40 days practical work place experience.

Entry requirements

You should be at least 16 years old.

You should have three GCSEs at Grade D/3 or above including both English Language and Mathematics.

A satisfactory DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and interview are required.


You will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. These will include direct observations in the placement setting, a portfolio and written assignments or tasks set by CACHE.

Future opportunities

Completion of this Level 2 course could lead to work as a full-time Level 2 practitioner – in early years settings or progression to a Level 3 Early Years Educator course, an apprenticeship or other level 3 qualifications relating to childcare or health and social care.
