Design Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 at Darlington College
This Apprenticeship will be for you if are keen and interested in working in the design industry and who can show a creative flair. Apprenticeships
combine practical training in a job with study at college. As an Apprentice, you will work along experienced staff, gain job-specific skills and earn a wage. You will study towards a related qualification at college, usually for one day a week.
To succeed on this Apprenticeship you must understand the importance of providing high standards of customer service, have good communication and problem solving skills and understand the importance of working in teams.
Apprentices are paid from the first day of their apprenticeship and they are entitled to the National Minimum Wage. Apprentices get at least 20 days of paid holiday per year, plus bank holidays.
Career progression is excellent for apprentices and, over the course of their careers those with an Apprenticeship earn, on average, £100,000 more than those without.
This Apprenticeship provides progression opportunities into various areas of further and higher education.
Examples of further education progression are:
- A Higher Apprenticeship in Design Management (Level 4)
- Other vocational qualifications related to or relevant for the creative and cultural industries
Examples of higher education progression opportunities are Foundation degrees and Bachelor’s degrees in:
- Art and design
- Graphic design
- Fashion design and manufacturing
- Production design and development
After successful completion of this course you could progress into a career in the design industry, for example:
- Desktop publishing
- CAD draughtsperson
- Graphic designer
- Technical illustrator
- Product designer
5 GCSEs grades A*-C including GCSE maths and English or an appropriate level 2 qualification (at a merit if graded) and a satisfactory school report.
