Course description

One of the most important and integral parts of any business is managing your finances effectively. This BTEC Level 3 Diploma has been designed specifically to develop your entrepreneurial skills with a focus on money and finance to help you succeed. You’ll learn about a wide range of issues and topics that affect businesses of all shapes and sizes on a day-to-day basis, looking in-depth at effective resource management across different departments and how this interacts with a company’s financials. You’ll also look at accounting practices in the business world and the economic impact globalisation can have on both international corporations and SMEs. Alongside the focus on finance, you’ll also be developing a variety of skills to help you stand out and achieve a rewarding career in the business sector. You’ll collaborate on projects with large businesses in Manchester, enhance your management skills and understand the importance of communication and teamwork to reach those strategic goals.



Financial information

Every unit in this BTEC Diploma will be assessed with a specific assignment. What this assignment is will vary from topic to topic and could include role plays, written course work, group work, presentations and an analysis of business case studies.

A Level 3 qualification means you’ll have the knowledge required to continue onto a university-level degree course in a business subject of your choice. With this finance-based diploma, you may wish to look at a foundation degree with The Manchester College in Business and Human Resource Management, alongside the option to top this up to a BA (Hons) degree. The course will also ensure you’re equipped with the skills and abilities required to get a great job in the business sector, with a number of career opportunities to choose from. You may find yourself working as a Data Analyst or Financial Forecaster, or you could be overseeing an accountancy department in a large firm.

    • Nicholls Campus offers courses for school leavers, adults and university level students. Subject areas include business, care, IT, nursing and medical sciences. The campus is home to the Arden School of Theatre, offering professional training in the performing arts as part of The Manchester College. The campus also hosts courses in skills for life and independent living for students with learning difficulties.

      Nicholls Campus is a specialist centre for sport. It’s home to the Nicholls Community Football Centre of Excellence and the college’s Sports Academies in football, rugby and basketball.

      Ardwick is close to Manchester’s city centre and the city's universities. Nicholls Campus includes an impressive Grade II listed building with its own gardens. There’s a small park within walking distance of the campus and a green space across the road.

      The nearby Manchester Apollo is a 3,500 capacity live music venue. Sportcity and the City of Manchester Stadium are five minutes away by car. There are a post office, supermarket and other shops nearby. The campus is on a main bus route from the city centre and is close to Ardwick train station.
