Course description

This BTEC course introduces you to the business environment and what working in this area entails. As part of this qualification you will study three core units and nine optional units: Enterprise in the business world - you will learn what makes an enterprise successful which is important for anyone who is looking to work in business or to set up their own business. Finance for business - all businesses need to be financially healthy to survive so you will learn how to manage costs and make revenue and profits. Principles of marketing - you will learn the importance of marketing and the different types of markets. Optional units include: Recruitment and selection, Visual merchandising, Customerservice, Promoting a brand, Introduction to retail and Business online.

Course content

This qualification will demonstrate an interest in business, which is useful for job applications. It will also provide a route to further study, including BTEC Business or Travel and Tourism at Level 3 or AS Business, Accounts and Certificate in Finance. This course can also prepare you for the Business Career Academy.

Entry requirements

English Language at grade C or above would be beneficial. Due to a wide variety of units covered time management is paramount. An interest in business is essential. If you enjoy watching The Apprentice, Mary Portas Queen of Shops or The Fixer, this course will be perfect for you.
