Travel and Tourism Diploma Level 2 at Gloucestershire College

Course description

This course gives you the opportunity to learn about the travel and tourism industry at both a national and international level.

The course is a combination of continual assessment and includes the development of practical workplace skills. As part of your studies, you'll be expected to go on specially organised trips that will give you a real insight into the industry you want to work in.

Learners participate in a range of enrichment activities including airline cabin crew training with JARE training, visits to tourist attractions, and experiences of the travel and tourism industry.

What's more the college has invested money into creating the right environment for you. So you will benefit from the latest learning technology and a unique aircraft simulation room where you can put your customer service skills into practice.

There are eight units in total that you must study. T

he highly experienced tutors will reveal what the travel and tourism industry is all about. You will also learn customer service skills, and all about the employment opportunities, the currency, foreign exchange travel documentation, sales and promotion and the chance to explore destinations both within the UK and across the world.

To ensure you have no problems completing written work or giving presentations, the functional skills team will be on hand to help you. They will take you through your paces with regards to communication and number skills. Functional skills are essential to have as they will help you to develop skills in problem solving, teamwork, delivery of presentations and assignment writing.

Entry requirements

You will need to have 3 GCSE's at grade D or above. Selection is based on a successful interview and positive reference.

Assessment

You will be assessed through coursework and practical assignments.

 

Future opportunities

Upon completion, you may move on to the Level 3 course in travel and tourism or seek employment in industry.
