Entry requirements

Minimum entry criteria:

Guarantees a place on the course: 7 in Biology and 6 in Maths

May be accepted on the course: 6 in Biology and 6 in Maths



Type of Assessment




Examination: Topics 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 and experimental methods based on the Core practicals

2 hours



Examination: Topics 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8 and experimental methods based on the Core practicals

2 hours



Examination: Questions from Topics 1 to 8, including Synoptic questions which may draw on two or more different topics. A section of this paper will have questions based on a pre-released scientific article

2 hours





Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses, which overlap with Biology such as Chemistry, Applied Science, Physics, Geography, Geology or more general subjects that may not relate to the sciences, to prepare for higher education. With further training, you could go into a job related to Biology or one of the other sciences such as a Doctor, Nurse, Scientist or Marine Biologist.
