Course description

In this introductory course to horticulture, you will have practical opportunities to learn a range of horticultural skills to set you on your career path.

Course content

You will have the opportunity to cover a range of units - these could include:

  • Safe working practice
  • Identify pests and diseases
  • Propagation of plants
  • Landscape construction
  • Machinery introduction
  • Maintain plants and areas
  • Maintain lawns

Entry requirements

  • 3 GCSEs at grade E or above
  • positive tutor recommendation

Applicants should have an aptitude for horticulture and be working towards Entry Level 2/3 in Literacy and Numeracy.

Future opportunities

WHAT CAREERS CAN I GO ON TO?

After completing this course, you could work in the industry at a garden centre or plant nursery, landscaping company or National Trust. 

WHAT FURTHER STUDY OPPORTUNITIES ARE THERE?

You could go on to further study such as a Level 2 Diploma or an Apprenticeship in Horticulture.
