Hospitality Diploma in Professional Food and Beverage Service Level 2 at Middlesbrough College

Course description

This course is designed for students who want to work or who already work in the Hospitality Industry "Front of House" position i.e. a career that can range from hotels to restaurants to pubs and cruise ships. You will have the opportunity to work in a realistic working environment within the College's Waterside Brasserie Restaurant which is open to the public. You will learn to develop your knowledge and practical skills which will prepare you for employment and / or career progression in the Hospitality Industry including Hotels, Restaurants, Cafes, Pubs and Clubs.

Course content

Units will include:- Food and Drink Service Selling Skills Effective Teamwork Development of Personal Skills Customer Care in a Reception and Restaurant (Enquiries, Bookings and Payments) Safe and Hygienic Working Practices. Food Safety Preparing for Employment You will also study English, Maths or ICT as part of your main programme

Entry requirements

To secure a place on this course you will need to possess four or more GCSE’s at Grade D or above including a minimum of a Grade D in English (or an equivalent qualification) or other equivalent qualification acceptable to the College. You must also undertake a successful interview and provide a satisfactory reference. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."

Assessment

The assessment on this programme will take the form of:- Practical observation (with appropriate witness testimony) Short online testing Externally set and externally marked assignments

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this qualification you may progress into employment in the Hospitality Industry or to a Level 3 Diploma in Food and Beverage Service Supervision.
