A level Business Studies at Christ's School and Sixth Form

Course description

This course is particularly suitable for students who have successfully completed courses of study in a range of subjects at GCSE level, one of which does not necessarily have to be Business Studies

Course content

The Advanced level single award studies 6 units from the Scheme of Assessment.  The units that can be covered are as follows: 

Investigating Business; People in Business;  Financial Planning and Monitoring; Meeting Customer Needs; Business Communication and Information Systems; Developing a Product;  Career Planning; Business Planning; Marketing Strategy; Promotional Activities;  The Marketing Environment; Managing People;  Managing Information; Managing Change; Financial Accounting for Managers;  Managing Resources. 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C including Maths and English.   Where Business Studies has been taken at GCSE, grade B is required to take this course at A level.



There is no coursework.  The examination (100%) will be three, 2 hour written examinations, each worth 100 marks. 

Future opportunities

The qualification will allow for a number of progression routes including Higher Education (e.g. BA Degree in Business Studies), other Applied Business related qualifications and subsequent employment.
