Course description

History A Level includes the study of both British and World History. It covers a variety of historical skills and allows for an in depth study of historical evidence and interpretation.

Course content

- The Tudors: England, 1485 – 1603

- Democracy and Nazism: Germany, 1918 – 1945

- Historical Investigation

Entry requirements

Students will be required to have obtained a Grade C or above at English GCSE, and a Grade B or above in GCSE History.

Assessment

Breadth Study – 40%

Depth Study – 40%

Historical Investigation – 20%

Future opportunities

A good A Level grade in History can enable a student to enter a History degree course at most universities, opening up a wide range of career opportunities. History is widely regarded as a good qualification with many transferable skills leading to careers in law, teaching, journalism, administration and banking and many others.
