Finance A-level at Dixons Allerton Academy

Course description

Year 12 CeFS. This course develops knowledge of and skills in personal financial management.

Year 13 Dip FS. The Diploma is an extension of the Certificate and looks in more detail at personal financial management and reaching targets using financial products.

Course content

Year 12
Looks at the needs, wants and aspirations of individuals and how at different stages of life they can move towards these with careful selection of financial products. It also looks at the nature of money, the operation of the banking system and sources of advice and the sales methods used in the industry. This work is divided into three units.

Year 13
The second unit breaks away from the focus on the individual and looks at how businesses like insurance companies, banks, building societies, etc. design and develop products and market them. The final unit puts together learning from both course and allows scholars to make complex and practical decisions about managing money through a lifetime.
