ICT BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Swindon College

Course description

The BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in ICT is a practical, work related course. You will learn by completing projects and assignments and external exams that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The course introduces you to a chosen employment area and provides a sound basis to progress to a more advanced work related qualification.

Course content

The course is made up of a number of units from a selection which may include the following examples: 

  • The Online World 
  • Technology Systems 
  • A Digital Portfolio
  • Installing and Maintaining Hardware and Software

Entry requirements

Students will normally need to have at least one of the following:

  • A BTEC Introductory Diploma in a related subject
  • A standard of Literacy and Numeracy supported by a general education equivalent to 4 GCSEs at Grade D
  • GCSE Maths at grade D
  • Related work experience
  • Other related Level 1 or 2 qualifications.

Future opportunities

A BTEC Level 2 Diploma prepares students for employment and provides a good foundation to go on to more advanced courses such as BTEC Level 3 Diploma in IT.
