Production Arts (Stage Management) BTEC Level 3 Certificate/Extended Certificate at Exeter College

Course description

This course is designed for students who have an interest in what goes on behind the scenes in theatre and all of the different production elements involved. In your first year you will study the Certificate progressing to the Subsidiary Diploma in your second year.

You will be expected to work outside of normal college hours on assignments and participation in workshops and managing performances are compulsory.

Course content

The course is a mix of practical classes with some theory and suits students who are willing and eager to get hands on with performance projects and events as a member of a production team. Assignments and assessments could range across back stage disciplines such as Stage Management, Lighting or Propmaking.

Entry requirements

You need at least five GCSEs at Grade C (including English), plus an interest in the subject or some previous experience would be useful.

Future opportunities

Initially, in your second year, you can progress to the Level 3 Extended Certificate in Production Arts (Stage Management) you can then progress on to study production arts at vocational colleges, higher education courses including Foundation Degrees at Exeter College, specialist training or employment.
