Religious Studies: Philosophy & Ethics - AS/A2 Level at Q3 Academy

Course description

Ethics focuses on studying moral issues alongside exploring students responses and views simultaneously with recognised models. Philosophy incorporates arguments for the existence of God and from atheism, and an exploration of evil and suffering, life after death and personal identity.

Course content

As part of the Philosophy syllabus, students will explore a variety of arguments about the existence of G and questions surrounding the problem of evil and suffering in the world and the concept of miracles will be examined.As part of the Ethics syllabus, students will cover a detailed study of ethical concepts, exploring the relationship between morality and religion.Once these concepts have been covered, students will focus on a range of dilemmas including abortion and euthanasia.

Entry requirements

Students will need to have gained a minimum of 5 A*-C grades at GCSE.


Assessment is through examination.

In most cases the course is free of charge. A fee may charged for re-sits or the general public.

Future opportunities

Students who have studied Philosophy and Ethics at AS and/or A2 have gone on to study a wide variety of subjects including: Accounting, Business, Law, management, Hospitality, Mathematics, Public relations, Drama and IT at university. Other students have found employment within management and the public sector.
