Construction Multi Crafts - FL at Springboard Bromley

Course description

The aim of our foundation learning (FL) programme is to help you make the step into regular employment, further education or Apprenticeship/NVQ training. Our course includes: 1. Gateway Induction programme 2. Additional sessions for your personal and social development 3. English & Maths training 4. Vocational training and/or practical work experience 5. ‘Moving On’ sessions 1. Our programme starts with a 1 week Gateway induction, which all students complete. It consists of various activities aimed at making you feel welcome and preparing you for the world of work. You will come back into the classroom regularly over the first few weeks to continue developing these skills. 2. We can provide you with individual support sessions to help enhance your personal effectiveness in areas such as confidence, communication, behaviour, assertiveness and anger management. 3. You will work towards qualifications in English and Maths. 4. You will undertake your City & Guilds qualification by undertaking practical units in painting & decorating, carpentry, plumbing or bricklaying in our on-site fully equipped workshops. 5. Towards the end of your programme, you will be able to undertake the Construction Skills Certification Scheme ('CSCS') Health & Safety Award. 6. We offer ‘Moving on’ sessions to provide you with an individual action plan to successfully progress from the programme. We look forward to hearing from you!

Entry requirements

To join our foundation learning programme visit your local Connexions office, who will refer you to us for a one to one interview. Alternatively, you can contact us direct for an interview. You will be assessed at interview for the support you need in English and Maths before being accepted onto the programme. Students joining the programme need to be able to work at the Entry 3 Level. We recruit and start groups throughout the year.

Future opportunities

foundation learning offers you the support to move onto an Apprenticeship, employment or Further Education. Gaining experience and practical skills in Multi Craft construction skills is a stepping stone into the construction industry.
