Plumbing:Level 2 at Suffolk New College

Course description

Your skills will develop and improve as you learn in our fully equipped industry standard workshops. You will learn about the Plumbing industry as you go on various trips throughout the year, including visits to working construction sites. The study programme will also develop personal, social and employability skills, which includes opportunities to use the job related skills you learn to increase your knowledge of a working environment and opportunities to work on community projects and to explore the various career pathways within the plumbing industry.

All students who have not achieved a grade C or grade 4, or above in GCSE English or Maths or both will need to study an English or/and Maths qualification alongside their chosen main qualification

Course content

This programme follows on from the Plumbing level 1 programme. It gives a more in depth technical picture of the plumbing industry. Topics are looked at in detail such as Cold Water, Hot Water and Central Heating. The study programme has both theory and practical elements to it; the theory consists of 9 GOLA examinations. The practical assessments are carried out to industry standards. This is a full time study programme and you are required to attend college for three days per week for a full academic year. During the year, you will be expected to undertake work placements in industry, as well as attend relevant trips and visits.

Entry requirements

A profile of GCSEs at grade D or grade 3, and successful completion of the BPEC Aptitude test 60% pass (30 minutes)

Tuition Costs

It allows students to progress into employment, or to the following qualifications.

  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating
  • Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating
