Business Diploma at The Burgate School and Sixth Fom centre

Course description

The introductory diploma to Business is a two year level 3 course equivalent to a single A-level.

Business is the heart of the economy, encouraging innovation and creating wealth and the Cambridge Technical qualification offers students the opportunity to explore the world of business focussing on a range of different functional areas.

The qualification has been created in collaboration with leading companies and explores all aspects of the business world including practical activities and using real life scenarios. The Cambridge Technicals are assessed predominantly by coursework unlike A-level Business. It is a high quality and nationally recognised qualification which is ideal for a wide range of learning styles.

Course content

The course covers all core business functions including:

  • planning
  • HR
  • finance
  • production and marketing.

Students will gain a variety of skills and knowledge to improve their employability whilst studying this course.

Entry requirements

  • At least 6 A*-C grades at GCSE, including English Language and  Mathematics.
  • It is not necessary to have studied Business at GCSE level.

Future opportunities

Once completed Cambridge Technicals give students the ability to access Higher Education, such as a degree course at university, as they are worth the same UCAS points as other A-levels. Students could also choose to pursue employment, apprenticeships or start up their own business ventures.
