Catering Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 at Bishop Auckland College

Course description

Apprenticeships are practical hands on programmes designed to provide you with relevant, practical training, which will enable you to progress within your chosen industry. Apprentices are paid a minimum of 2.68 an hour if they are under 19 or over 19 and still in the first year of their apprenticeship programme. You will be employed between 30 and 40 hours a week. Career opportunities linked to the Hospitality and Catering industry are continuing to expand. The college, excellent catering department works with employers to help develop the skills of trainee chefs and catering assistants.

Course content

You will be required to complete the NVQ and Diploma in Professional Cookery as well as completing Employment Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills. If it is required, you will also need to complete Functional Skills in Mathematics and English. You will be allocated an assessor who will visit you in your work place to provide support with the NVQ and Technical Certificate.

Future opportunities

This course will help develop your skills within the Catering industry. It will help develop your knowledge of different foods and give you valuable experience of working in high-pressure working envrionments.

 

What can I do when I finish?

Progress to the level 3 (advanced) apprenticeship in Professional Cookery. Progress in to a career as a: Hotel / Restaurant Manager, Trainee Chef, Pastry Chef, Baker Chocolatier, Restaurant owner.
