Course description

The course aims to offer a professional and highly practical experience. You will become part of Chobham’s own theatre company. There is a focus on the practical skills of the actor/ performer, through workshops and small and large scale performances. The course will give you the opportunity to experience various technical elements of theatre, including set design and construction, lighting and sound. The course will also give you grounding in the background to theatre and performance, including the essential elements of their history. Practical work enables you to make constant use of your new theoretical knowledge. You will have the opportunity to become fully involved in the process of performance from directing and writing to critical evaluation. Elements of this course aim to prepare you for film, television and radio work, as well as live theatre.

BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts - Acting Subsidiary Diploma extends specialist work-related focus and covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the appropriate vocational sector. It offers greater flexibility and a choice of emphasis through the units. It is broadly equivalent to one GCE A Level.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE passes at grade C or above (preferably with B in Drama and English) or BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts (Merit Grade)
