BTEC Level 3 Business Studies at St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy - Trinity Sixth Form
There are a range of diering units that you can complete.
The mandatory units depend on the weighting of the qualification you wish to undertake but all levels require you to study "Exploring Business" which requires you to research what a business does, the influences on that business and how you think they have succeeded and Developing a Marketing Campaign.
Other units include Personal and Business Finance, Principle of Management, Buiness Decision making and Internationa Business.
There are a reange of optional units which include:
- Market Research
- Differing aspects of how the Law impacts on UK businesses.
The optional units undertaken are designed to meet your interests followng the mandatory units and therefore the qualification is individualised to meet your own needs.
You will learn through traditional lessons, presentations, individual research both online and using text books.
Each lesson is designed to allow you to meet an assessment criteria for each unit being studied.
A range of case studies are used as this subject is about how and why real businesses are making the decisions they do today.
Grade 5 in English and Maths; there is no expectation of having studed Business Studies at GCSE Level.
The course is assessed through a mixture of internally assessed units and externally assessed.
The number of these units depend on the weighting that you are undertaking.
There is one "traditional" exam "Personal and Business Finance", whilst the other exteral assessments are based on a case study for which you have to develop your response during a set window of time.
The number of external remaining units are internally set and assessed.
You will learn about a range of issues surrounding the world of Business in the 21st Century; including finance, marketing, influences, law, human resourse.
Previous students have gone on to either university to study Business Administration, Law, Journalism, Sociology, Economics, Marketing & Sports Science.
Other students have progressed onto higher level Apprenticeships and Management Training Schemes.
Lessons in The Trinity Sixth Form are taught in two blocks, a morning and an afternoon, with a flexible lunchtime in between. Some students will find that all of their subjects will be taught in the same school, while others may choose subjects taught in another school.
Transport will be provided free during the lunchtime, so you don't have to worry about getting from morning to afternoon classes. Free before and after transport is also available to and from your home school if required.
Business Studies BTEC will be taught at St Margaret Ward site.
