Beauty Therapy Treatments BTEC Advanced Diploma Level 3 at Fareham College

Course description

Our Beauty Therapy Students learn from the hands-on exposure & expectation of paying customers from the Gosport & Fareham communities.

Salon141 offers excellent opportunities for students who will experience every aspect of the Hair & Beauty industry ensuring that they leave with the competence & confidence to work in and manage a modern, professional salon.

Extensive anatomy and physiology is included in all of the treatment units of study.

Course content

  • Health and safety

  • Planning promotional events and retailing

  • Financial effectiveness

You will learn how to perform the following treatments:

  • Body electrical

  • Facial electrical

  • Body massage

  • Microdermabrasion

Depending on your progress, you may be offered additional training such as:

  • Indian head massage

  • stone therapy massage

  • Epilation

There is also the opportunity for further training from leading manufacturers e.g. Dermalogica, Minx, Shellac, Sienna X Tanning. Work placement is a mandatory part of this course to develop commercial and retail skills.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above including maths and English. Level 2 Beauty Therapy. A dexterity assessment is required.

Financial information

One or two (depending on course) salon uniforms, kits & textbooks are essential requirements of our courses. A list is available on request and students may purchase these through the College.

You may incur additional costs while on work placements.

Future opportunities

We strongly recommend that you continue training in at least one other specialist pathway such as Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Advanced Make-up, Nail services or salon management to maximise your career portfolio.

The Level 4 Salon Management award can also be studied to support longer-term progression into management roles.
