Course description

To study the ideas of forces, energy, electricity and magnetism, the nature of matter, atoms and radiation. To think how these ideas shape the natural universe we inhabit and the world of technology we have built. To develop practical skills in using apparatus, handling data and interpreting it, and communicating results. We hope you will enjoy finding out about Physics, looking at its effects on our lives and environment, and gaining skills and knowledge to equip you for life and work at the highest level. It’s up to you to take up this challenge!An AS-grade in Physics at the end of Yr12.At the end of Yr13, a good pass in A-level Physics is highly desirable if you want to work in science-based fields including engineering and medicine to name but two. It is essential for many such degree courses. Success in Physics shows a level of education and capability well-suited to a wide range of professions and business activities, and to informed participation in a modern world where issues that affect us all are so often linked to science.

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses such as Chemistry, Biology or Electronics to prepare for higher education in a science related subject or more general higher education courses.With further training, you could go into a job related to Physics such as Science Technician or Electronics Engineer.The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
