Fine Art at Bodmin College
The course aims to enhance visual awareness and develop the students’ ability to communicate and express themselves through the exploration and use of a range of media. A range of skills are taught and drawing is an important part of the course. Meanings and messages are a key part of the course and students study the work of fine artists through a range of styles and media.
The final portfolios are highly personalised with work ranging from drawing and painting to installations incorporating film and photography to textile and sculpture. The emphasis is on the ideas.
A grade C or above at GCSE is expected, but for those students who have not taken Art at GCSE, evidence of ability and commitment will be essential. For this course a reasonable level of drawing skill will be expected as this forms the foundation of the course.
