Music at Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form Free School

Course description

Music is a synthesis of logic and imagination. The study of A Level music includes the development of the performance and the composition skills that you would have gained at GCSE. The course includes the analysis of set works through which you will gain an understanding of elements such as harmony and the history of music: from the baroque and classical periods right up to jazz, pop and other 21st century music. The performance component of the course lets you present a solo vocal, instrumental or an electronic piece of work.

Entry requirements

Our entry requirements are in-line with other local providers. To study with us you will need to have an average of at least 6 grade Bs at GCSE, (including grade B’s in any subjects that you wish to study at A level that you have already studied at GCSE.) We are aware that there may be special circumstances that mean that you won’t achieve this level of results. We do sometimes reduce this minimum standard under such conditions - please do get in touch.
