English Language : GCSE at WQE

Course description

This course includes three components:
• Component 1: 20th Century Literature Reading and Creative Prose Writing (40%)
• Component 2: 19th and 21st Century Non-Fiction Reading and Transactional/Persuasive Writing (60%)
• Component 3: Spoken Language (a separate endorsement

During the course of the year, you will engage in a variety of activities, including class discussion, group work, and working independently…plus, plenty of exam preparation and practice!

Entry requirements

A minimum of five GCSEs at Grade D/3 including English Language.

Assessment

Assessment is through two external exams and one internally-assessed spoken language assessment. You have the opportunity to sit the exam in both November and the summer.

Future opportunities

Progress to A Level English Language and Literature, and other Level 3 subjects.
