Course description

This qualification is aimed at students who have made a decision to focus their learning and career development in art and design.

Course content

You will experience two complimentary specialist disciplines across a fast paced, short, one year course. The course consists of both fine art and textiles/fashion design units. Throughout the course you will learn about formal elements including: line, tone, texture, shape, colour, proportion, form and pattern and you will be encouraged to experiment with and explore a range of media, materials and techniques. This will provide a springboard for you to develop your design skills in either streetwear, fashion, accessories, interior design, surface pattern and/or textile craft - the choice will be yours. In each specialist area you will build journals/sketchbooks where you will document your work as you learn, You will research the work of artists, designers and visit local galleries to explore similar techniques and use this to inspire your own developments.

Assessment

Throughout the course you will be set assignments which will cover a variety of themes, with the opportunity to work on live projects. 

Future opportunities

Progression is excellent, with students producing highly inventive creative and personal portfolios progressing on to universities in Swansea, Glasgow School of Art, Cumbria, UAL London, Salford and Manchester
