Accounting AAT Diploma level 3 at Leicester College
AAT is a professional and well-recognised accounting technician qualification, providing a practical approach to accounting work. The AAT level 3 diploma online builds on basic financial knowledge by teaching complex accounting tasks such as preparing final accounts for partnerships and sole traders, and maintaining cost accounting paperwork. It is suitable for those who have completed the AAT level 2 course or those who are at an intermediate level and looking to develop their existing accounting skills. If you are aged 16-18, you will be enrolled on a study programme, which will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above. You will also be required to complete a work experience placement and an employability programme.
During your one-year programme of study you will be required to undertake the following subjects: financial accounts; prepare a profit and loss balance sheet; prepare costs and revenue reports; prepare cash flow forecasts; prepare VAT returns; apply professional ethics in accounts and finance; and use spreadsheets in accounting and finance.
Standard entry to this course requires one reference. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90% attendance. A GCSE in both English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above is required. You will also need to have successfully completed level 2 AAT in order to have gained the accounting knowledge necessary for level 3. Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19 who do not hold formal English and maths qualifications.
Assessment is by an online exam at the end of every unit and an overall synoptic exam at the end of the year.
Material fee £168.00.
Once you have successfully completed AAT level 3 you can take the AAT level 4 or a degree course in a university where the following accreditations can be gained: ACCA, ACA, CIMA (first year). After completing AAT level 3, you will be competent to work as a financial accountant, an assistant financial accountant, a purchase ledger clerk, a sales ledger clerk or a general accounts clerk.
