Business Studies A Level at East Sussex College

Course description

Are you a budding entrepreneur? Do you aspire to being in a managerial position? Are you a customer or an employee? Business Studies is relevant to everyone! This course will give you a good overview to the internal workings of business as well as the external environment which affects a company’s ability to meet objectives and strategies.

Entry requirements

You will need to meet our standard entry requirements.

You will need at least GCSE English Language and Maths grade B/5.

Assessment

This course is externally assessed through four written exams (two in year 1 and two in year 2). Throughout the course you will be expected to complete written homework tasks, which will help your teachers to provide you with individual feedback designed to help you improve your performance ready for these external assessments.

Future opportunities

After successfully completing the AS Level, most learners go on to study Business Studies A2. This can then provide a pathway to business studies degree courses, which are a popular progression route for learners wishing to continue their education. This course also provides a good introduction for those wishing to pursue a career in business.

Further information

The college organises (and students are encouraged to attend), one day revision courses run by examiners (either in Portsmouth or London).
All Business students take part in Enterprise Week in November, taking part in real business exercises, supported by local business people.
