Vehicle Body Repair Level 2 Diploma at East Sussex College

Course description

On this course you will combine workshop-based training with the necessary theory needed for modern vehicle body repair. Workshop practice will provide opportunities to develop your expertise. You will improve your welding skills including gaining an introduction to MIG brazing and make use of more advanced tools such the plasma cutter. You will also build your metal finishing skills including single-sided repairs. At Level 2, theory lessons also become increasingly important in developing your knowledge and understanding of the technical areas of your work. If you have not yet achieved at least GCSE grade C in Maths and/or English these subjects will form a compulsory part of your programme.

Entry requirements

You will need to meet our standard entry requirements.

You will need at least GCSE English Language and Maths grade D/3 and two other subjects at grade D/3.


You will be assessed through a mixture of on-line exams and a series of practical assessments.

Future opportunities

This course can provide a pathway to an apprenticeship or to Level 3 in the following year. You will need to have achieved good grades in the theoretical elements and the practical skills requirements at Level 2, to make sure you are ready for the next level of study. This will also include where required, successful completion of the target grades
