Business Studies A Level at East Sussex College
Are you a budding entrepreneur? Do you aspire to being in a managerial position? Are you a customer or an employee? Business Studies is relevant to everyone! This course will give you a good overview to the internal workings of business as well as the external environment which affects a company’s ability to meet objectives and strategies.
You will need to meet our standard entry requirements.
You will need at least GCSE English Language and Maths grade B/5.
This qualification covers ten topics assessed through three exams, each worth 33.3% of the A level and all of which are examined in June. BUSINESS1: A mix of multiple choice, short answer and data response questions.BUSINESS2: Three data response questions.BUSINESS3: One compulsory case study with six questions of varying length. Throughout the course you will be expected to complete written homework tasks, which will help your teachers to provide you with individual feedback designed to help you improve your performance ready for these external assessments.
After successfully completing the AS Level, most learners go on to study Business Studies A2. This can then provide a pathway to business studies degree courses, which are a popular progression route for learners wishing to continue their education. This course also provides a good introduction for those wishing to pursue a career in business.
The college organises (and students are encouraged to attend), one day revision courses run by examiners (either in Portsmouth or London).
All Business students take part in Enterprise Week in November, taking part in real business exercises, supported by local business people.
Students can purchase additional revision materials from the course coordinator to aid independent study in the run up to the exams.
