Unit 1Portfolio of workControlled assessment. 60% of the total marks. Marked out of 80. The portfolio will be selected from work undertaken during the course of study and must include 2 projects. A response to all assessment objectives is required in the portfolio as a whole.Unit 2Externally Set Task, externally assessed. 40% of the total marks. Marked out of 80. Students choose one from seven questions and develop this theme. Question papers can be issued in the January of the year of the exam. There is unlimited preparation time and 10 hours of supervised exam time. A response to all assessment objectives is required.

There are no subject specific entry criteria for this course.
You will be assessed through the formal application of the assessment criteria to each of the Units and supported by continuous one to one tutorials and feedback.Both Units will be assessed by the centre and then moderated by the exam board.You will also receive frequent assessment of you work through the review of your sketchbooks and projects.
If you have completed the course successfully and have achieved a range of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above you may apply for the AS Level Photography course or other AS Level courses. Alternatively you may wish to use your portfolio as evidence of your skills and experience when applying for jobs.
This is a largely practical course that entails a lot of experimentation and practice.
The sketchbook element will be about recording and writing up about these experiments and exploration. In addition you will be required to write about your ideas and thoughts.You will also be expected to investigate the work of photographers and artists from both the present and the past recording your findings in your sketchbook.
