Early Years Education and Care Introduction Certificate Level 2 at East Sussex College

Course description

Course content:You will study approximately 16 units over the year, these may include:• Support physical care routines for children• Supporting children’s play• Support the needs of the child in preparing for school• Supporting children’s development• Engage in professional development• Support creative play

Entry requirements

You will need to meet our standard entry requirements.

You will need at least GCSE English Language and maths grade D/3 and a clear DBS check.

Assessment

This is a one year course and will be taken alongside other subjects at college. All work is internally assessed using a range of methods. This may include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by CACHE.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course, students can progress on to a Level 3 course at college (AS Health & Social Care) or go out into the workplace as an apprentice to study for the Level 3 Early Years Educator, although you will need C grades in Maths & English to do this.

Entry requirements:
You will need at least four D grades at GCSE including Maths & English, or successful completion of the Level 1 Certificate in Caring for Children. You will study other GCSE’s including English and/or Maths as part of your college programme
Work experience:
As an integral part of the course, you will be expected to undertake work experience in a Childcare setting. This will be arranged for you by our Work Placement Officer. You will also be required to have a DBS check before starting placement.
