Level 3 Certificate in Health & Social Care at East Sussex College
During this course you will gain a range of practical skills that are perfect for helping you to start your career within the health and social care sector.
During this one-year advanced level qualification will go deeper into the key skills you’ll need for employment in the health and social sector. You will be able to develop your range and quality of interpersonal skills during work placements and practical sessions. The vocational nature of this course means that you will be able to learn first-hand from real-life examples. You will also have the opportunity to increase your knowledge in equality, diversity and human rights. Modules you will cover include:
- Developing effective communication
- Equality, diversity and rights
- Health, safety and security
- Development through the life stages
- Anatomy and physiology
- Personal and professional development
You will need a minimum of: 5 GCSE's A*-C or Equivalent Qualification including Maths and English at C grade and DBS check
Your assessments will consist of 100% coursework assignments in a variety of modes including film making, presentations, open book tests and written assignments.
Students on this course will be charged for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to enable the college and the placement settings to check any criminal convictions that may affect your ability to work in this sector. (This replaces the old Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks.) The current cost is £55. During the course there will also be an additional cost for educational visits and £20.00 for polo shirt.
Once you have successfully completed this course you will be in a great position to start your career in a care setting. You could find roles as a youth worker, social worker, or in organisations such as care homes. Other options could include specialising in another of our Level 3 course, or starting an apprenticeship.
