A-Level Business at East Sussex College
During this two-year course you will gain a thorough understanding of the business environment and key aspects of its function.
Over the duration of the course you will build on your existing knowledge and interest for business, developing your understanding of business functions such as marketing, human resources, strategy and analysis. You will understand and learn the key interpersonal skills that entrepreneurs and professionals in this industry have, you’ll sharpen your ability to assess trends and solve problems, learn how to set and meet business objectives, and see how theory relates to real world examples. You will also explore the methods businesses use to motivate their staff and gain an insight into the finance function behind different sized organisations.
Modules will cover topics including:
- Human Resources
- Business environment
- Business strategy
- Break-even analysis
To apply for this course you will need to meet the minimum requirements of 5 Grade 4 GCSEs (including Maths and English)
You will be assessed entirely through exams. Case studies with differentiated questions will be used to test your understanding of key business theories.
There may be some additional costs during the course for trips and visits to business events and conferences. We also recommend you to purchase Business Review, to give your studies a real world context.
This course would be good to study alongside other A-Level subjects such as Economics, Politics, or Media, allowing for progression to university courses in Business, Marketing, or Human Resources.
There are a number of career opportunities available to you after studying this qualification, for instance you may work in a Management consultancy, move into advertising, work as a retail consultant, work in Public Relations, or accountancy.
