A-Level Fine Art at East Sussex College

Course description

You will use your creativity and passion for making visual art to gain a greater understanding of the creative process.

Course content

During the two-year course you will gain a thorough intorduction into the world of Fine Art. You will develop numerous skills, such as how to develop ideas, experiment with materials, techniques and processes, and learn how to present a personal, informed and meaningful response. You will be able to produce practical and critical contextual work, while enhancing your skills in a variety of areas including:

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Mixed media
  • Sculpture
  • Land art
  • Printmaking
  • Installation
  • Lens-based and/or light-based media

Entry requirements

To apply for this course you will need to meet the minimum requirements of 5 Grade 4 GCSEs (including Maths and English).

Assessment

You will be assessed through portfolio presentation, individual research, and personal development and concepts.

Financial information

There may be some extra costs for specialist materials and exhibition costs.

Future opportunities

This course would be good to study alongside other A-Level subjects such as Graphic Design, Photography or Media, allowing for progression to university courses in Fine Art, Graphic Design, or Photography.

There may also be a number of career opportunities available to you after completing the course such as becoming an Artist, a Sculptor, an Illustrator, a Graphic designer, a Curator, a Teacher, working in Theatre, or Opera.
