Study Programme Overview

Our Apprenticeship programmes will give you vital hands-on experience, learning from real life situations, with the guidance of industry professionals. You’ll gain the skills and confidence needed to excel in your chosen career.

An IT Apprenticeship provides the enhanced skills, good knowledge and competence required of an IT, Software, Web or Telecom Professional in a wide range of job roles, such as:

Software/Web Developers, Desktop Support Engineers, IT Technical Support, Software Developer, Database Administrator, Telecoms Engineer, Network Planner or Network Engineers.

The majority of unit/assessments can be adapted to the apprentice job roles & responsiblities.

The course is a great way to build on your skills and gain a recognised qualification whilst also earning a salary.

To complete an Apprenticeship you will need an employer who is willing to support you throughout your training. If you have not found one, we can help you with your search.

To get on this course you’ll need a minimum grade 4 GCSE in English and Maths as well as an IT Level 2 qualification.


You’ll be assessed throughout your learning programme by a mixture of formal tests, workplace observations, portfolio building and self-assessment.

The College will support you throughout your time here. In College, you will receive personal support from your tutor; out of College, you will have your own personal Work Based Tutor, who will visit you in the workplace.

During their last visit Ofsted commended the College for its provision of “well targeted information, advice and careers guidance, which meets individual needs and enables learners to make informed choices about the next steps in their learning and career.”

Future opportunities

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this Apprenticeship, you could progress onto full-time employment, professional job-specific qualifications, Higher Apprenticeships or a degree programme.

Following further study you could work as:

  • A Digital Marketing Officer can earn between £20,000 and £50,000 a year, depending on experience.
  • An IT Support Technician, earning between £16,000 and £35,000 a year.
  • An Web Content Manager, earning between £25,000 and £55,000 a year.
