BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Performing Arts (Dance) at Neale-Wade Academy

Course description

The course has been developed to explore existing works, develop and demonstrate performance skills.

The course is designed to provide the opportunity for students to enter employment in the sector, to study dance at school and university or to progress onto BTEC Higher National in Performing Arts.

 

Course content

Students will study the following units:

Investigating Practitioners Work

Developing skills and techniques for live performance

Group workshop performance

Dance technique in an appropriate style

Assessment

The assessment may take the form of an  assessment on work in practical lessons. performances, or in a written task which requires students to reflect and demonstrate their skills and knowledge.

Future opportunities

The course is designed to provide the opportunity for students to enter employment in the sector, to study dance at school and university or to progress onto BTEC Higher National in Performing Arts.

      As a testament to our determination to continually improve our results, A Level passes have risen for the last four years, with 88% of subjects achieving 100% pass rate at A2 in 2014. 97% of all A2 students achieved the required entries for their chosen university courses and students have gained places in top universities.
      In addition to the high quality teaching the academy offers excellent facilities, including a modern well equipped kitchen and common room, study spaces and a designated Post 16 IT suite.
