Level 3 Diploma in IT: Software Development at East Sussex College
You will use your passion for IT and software development to gain the knowledge and technical ability to fulfil your ambition for working in this dynamic industry, or studying it in greater detail at university.
Over the two years you will gain an in-depth knowledge about a wide range of ICT areas including networking, programming, web design, and game development. You will be able to analyse complex tasks and develop innovative solutions to their problems. You will develop your independent study skills and learn how to manage projects; skills which will help you to excel in professional environments. You will also gain an industry recognised accreditation from CISCO upon completions of the course.
You will study a range of topics including:
- Analysis and Innovation
- Systems security
- Website development, client and server side.
- Game design and development
- Systems analysis and design
- Advanced databases
- CISCO systems
- Client and server operating systems
You will need a minimum of: 5 GCSE's A*-C or Equivalent Qualification including Maths and English
This is a coursework-based qualification, and you will be assessed through assignments set to tight deadlines. To be successful, students must be prepared to work in their own time and contribute to class discussion.
There may be additional costs required at enrolment to cover course visits and trips.
On completion of the course you can progress onto degree level courses at the University Centre Hastings or start an Apprenticeship in the industry. Other options could include finding full-time employment in the industry as a Computer support specialist, a Software engineer, a Database administrator, or a Web developer.
