Engineering Technology Level 1 at North Kent College
The course is divided between classroom and workshop activities; The student will be working with engineering hand tools, such as files, hacksaws, and drilling machines etc. Students will progress on this course to use machines such as the Lathe and Milling machine. Welding techniques will be introduced in this course. In the classroom the use, type of materials used, production techniques and engineering drawings, with the use computer aided design programs as well as traditional drawing techniques will be studied. Units offered in the pursuit of this qualification include Welding, Hand-Skills, Milling and Turning, Computer Aided Drafting, Computer Aided Manufacture and Electrical installation
Grade D and above in GCSE Math’s and English or equivalent and 2 GCSEs at D and above of which one must be Science. Good School/College reference.
Continuous observed assessment of practical competence and a number of theory assessments to compliment, also an on-line end test by external examination.
