Professional Cookery - Level 2 (Diploma) at College of West Anglia

Course description

If you are interested in working as a chef within the hospitality industry, this course will provide you with the skills and experience needed to gain employment, and is an excellent preparation for working in the industry.It is a busy and practical course with real working experience in our own Novus Restaurant and kitchens.Whilst working towards this diploma, students will be able to develop skills in many areas including:

  • How to prepare and cook industry standard dishes
  • Food safety
  • Food and drink service
  • Customer service skills
  • Legislation
  • How to work in a team (essential in any busy kitchen)

Entry requirements

You will need:

  • 4 or more GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or higher including Catering and either/or English and Maths
  • A relevant Level 1 qualification
You will be invited to an interview to help us ensure the course is right for you.


Progress on the course is measured through a number of written assignments and short answer tests. Students will also have practical assessments. This qualification will be graded Pass/Merit/Distinction.
