If you want to work as part of a schools work force, directly supporting the teaching and learning of pupils, this course is for you.Full teaching assistant training is required for anyone looking to work unsupervised in an educational role, either as a teaching assistant or learning support assistant.This course is designed for those looking to develop their knowledge and skills within the sector and advance their career within a teaching and learning support role. During this course you will learn how to support teachers with the delivery of a school curriculum, while helping children to develop self-esteem, independence and abilities for learning.The course is taught as a blended learning course, giving you the chance to put your knowledge into practice with a 200 hour work placement in an Ofsted regulated organisation with children between the ages of 6-19.You are responsible for finding a suitable placement and the school needs to be on the college-approved database
You will need:A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or higher, including English Language, Maths and ScienceA satisfactory DBS checkA minimum of 2 years experience of working in or volunteering in the schools either at Primary or Secondary levelYou will also ideally have completed the Teaching Assistants - Level 2 course.You will be invited to an interview to help us ensure the course is right for you.
This is a competence-based qualification based on National Occupational Standards and is a job-ready award that requires learners to demonstrate skills and knowledge to work in this sector. As a competence-based qualification elements will be assessed in the work place and will follow the relevant assessment requirements.
