Becoming Independent - Entry Level 2 at College of West Anglia

Course description

This course is in the suite of Bridge to Independence courses which are programmes of further education for students with severe learning difficulties and/or disabilities.The courses are designed for young adults to help develop independent living skills and who have the potential to progress, the enthusiasm to continue learning and who require a supported learning environment. The nationally recognised qualification gained is structured to allow learners access to a curriculum which develops skills and knowledge in areas such as cooking and shopping for yourself, travelling independently through the TITAN programme and functional skills in English and Maths.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Assessment

Assessment is ongoing and consistent throughout the academic year, this is evident via an initial screening process and then regularly via Learn.Learners are assessed on an individual basis by the tutor and through the verification of completed portfolio units. Learn allows for the learner to log in and view their progress and targets so they are always aware of their achievement to date.Three progress reviews and regular staff meetings ensure that the assessment and review process continues to map individual progression.
