Course description

If you are interested in studying Science at University, or working in the field of science, this course provides you with the skills, knowledge and qualifications you need to progress.Many students progress onto the Science - Level 3 course after successfully completing this course.The course provides a broad understanding of chemical, physical and biological concepts and is made up of three compulsory units and six optional units.Units can include:

  • Chemistry and Our Earth
  • Energy and Our Universe
  • Biology and Our Environment
  • Applications of Chemical Substances
  • Health Applications of Life Sciences
  • The Living Body
  • Investigating a Crime Scene
  • Using mathematical Tools in Science
  • Chemical Analysis and Detection

Entry requirements

You will need:

  • 4 or more GCSEs at Grade 3 (D) or higher, including English and Maths
Or:
  • A relevant Level 1 qualification
You will be invited to an interview to help us ensure the course is right for you.

Assessment

All units are internally assessed via coursework assignments and tests. Students who produce excellent work may gain Merit or Distinction grades.
