Sport Leisure Management - Apprenticeship (Advanced) - Level 3 at College of West Anglia
This Advanced Apprenticeship enables you to work in a leisure or fitness centre environment in a supervisory or management role. In this apprenticeship you will learn to lead teams, promote customer care, deal with health and safety issues, understand your organisation and industry and develop staff. The apprenticeship is made up of various components including a portfolio to demonstrate evidence of competence in the role, practical assessments of performance and some exams. For those who do not have GCSE grade C English and Maths you will also get the opportunity to undertake these subjects as a functional skill.
An interview is required. You will be assessed for your potential to achieve the apprenticeship. The assessment will depend upon the level and range of activities you will be undertaking in the workplace. You may need to undergo an initial assessment of your English and Maths skills in which you are required to be working at/towards, at least, Level 2 in English and Maths. Preferably, applicants will hold GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths. At the start of your apprenticeship you will need to be employed by a suitable and appropriate employer for at least 30 hours a week. You will also need to have been a resident in the EU for at least 3 years, not have a level 4 or higher qualification and not be on any other government funded training programme. Commitment and motivation are also necessary to complete the course.
The competence and knowledge qualifications will be delivered in the workplace, using an electronic portfolio of evidence, observations, statements and question & answer sessions. The knowledge qualification will involve exams. Functional Skills will be delivered in localised training hubs in order to prepare learners for examinations unless they are exempt. Employment Rights and Responsibilities will be embedded within the competence qualification mandatory units. Personal Learning and Thinking Skills will be embedded within the mandatory units of the NVQ.
