Sport & Leisure Instructor - Level 1 (Diploma) at College of West Anglia

Course description

This programme is aimed towards students wishing to follow a career pathway into the sport and active leisure industry.Modules you will study include:

  • Fitness for Sport and Exercise
  • Practical Sports Performance
  • The Mind and Sports Performance
  • The Sports Performer in Action
  • Training for Personal Fitness
  • Leading Sports Activities Knowledge
The course features a variety of teaching methods, such as presentations, practical investigations and workshops.Additionally the course provides the opportunity to gain extra qualifications such as:
  • Coaching and leading awards
  • Fitness awards
  • Personal and social development awards
  • Health and Safety Awareness
Students who do not have English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above at GCSE level are required to follow English and Maths programmes as mandatory components of their programme.Our King's Lynn sports courses are currently run at our specialist Sports Campus at Lynnsport, near to the main campus.

Entry requirements

You will need:

  • At least 4 GCSEs at Grade 2 (E) or higher 
All students are required to successfully pass an interview demonstrating passion, enthusiasm and commitment to the course and sport.

Assessment

Assessment is completed via internal methods and includes assignments, practical demonstrations and presentations. There is also an externally assessed unit including an exam.
