Mathematics in Context (Core) Level 3 at The Sixth Form at Cornwallis Academy

Course description

Mathematics in context is a brand new course, intended for students who are keen to extend their GCSE maths skills for future study or work but are not planning on taking mathematics at AS or A level.

This qualification is different from GCSE Maths as students will use real-world, relevant content, offering a fresh assessment experience for learner with adult, context-based problem-solving tasks.

Course content

The course is assessed entirely by written exam, with no coursework element. At the end of the two-year course you will be awarded a Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Certificate in Mathematics in Context– similar to an AS



Paper 1: Comprehension 1 hour and 40 minutes 40% of the qualification 60 marks

Paper 2: Applications 1 hour and 40 minutes 60% of the qualification 80 marks

Entry requirements

The entry requirement is a Grade 4 at GCSE Mathematics.
