Level 3 Apprenticeship in Electrical at MidKent College
Earn while you learn on an apprenticeship with the College! This nationally recognised standard will provide you with the skills, experience and knowledge you need to progress in your chosen career. Your apprenticeship framework will include a combination of on-the-job training, studying for your qualification at College and maths, English and possibly ICT depending on the framework and any prior GCSEs.Whether you want to learn how to install electrotechnical equipment or work with machinery on a production line, an apprenticeship in Electrotechnical will help you towards your career goals.You will be assessed through continuous assessment, assignments, and online and phase-end tests in addition to practical installations on and off-site.Units include:> Health and safety regulations> Electrical principles and science> Electrical trade theory and practice that underpins the craft knowledge and competence
Students need to have the following:> Successful completion of a Level 2 Electrical Installation course> Employment within the sector with a contract of employment for at least 30 hours per week> A good standard of education with 5 GCSEs at A-C / 9-4 including maths and English (or equivalent)> Satisfactory completion of the college initial assessment
On finishing this course, there will be a wide range of options open to you. You could train in a variety of roles such as:> Installation electrician > Maintenance electrician > Highway electrical systems service and maintenance electrician> Highway electrical systems commissioning electrician
> You will need to have your own personal protective equipment (PPE) and will need to purchase the learning manuals and materials> You will learn through a series of theoretical and practical classes including assemblies and simulations
