Level 2 in Sport at MidKent College

Course description

Sprint ever closer to a fast-paced sports career by enrolling on the level 2 Extended Certificate.You will study a range of units including fitness testing, anatomy, psychology and practical sport, as well as vocationally relevant qualifications that will enhance your employability.Ideal for motivated, self-disciplined students with a keen interest in all aspects of sport, health and fitness.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, including English or maths at grade D/3 or above.

Future opportunities

Upon completion of the course you may be able to progress to a level 3 qualification or employment at assistant level in a sports or leisure facility.

> The course is designed to be as practical as possible although there will be some theory lessons> You will be assessed on your written tasks and practical performance, and you will also be required to build a portfolio of evidence> All MidKent College students will continue studying English and maths until they are 19, or until they have achieved a Grade C/4. Your study programme will incorporate a Work Placement of up to 350 hours in a role relevant to your study. All students will have access to a Personal Tutor to support their personal and professional development.

    • Set in the Oakwood Park complex, MidKent College's Maidstone Campus provides a pleasant learning environment for students. The site houses a range of quality workshops – including those for Bricklaying, Carpentry, Motor Vehicle and Welding – as well as a large learning resource centre, refectory and welcoming social zone.

      In 2012 major redevelopment work costing a total of £25 million started at the Maidstone Campus, with new state-of-the-art facilities expected to be open by December 2013.

      As part of the rebuild MidKent College has purchased the University for the Creative Arts' Maidstone campus, which is also based at Oakwood Park and now houses the majority of the College's higher education courses.
