Level 1 in Hair & Beauty at MidKent College

Course description

Overview.Our Level 1 Hair and Beauty programme is an introduction to the hair and beauty industry. What is covered.You will study a range of 10 units for the BTEC. Assessment method.You will complete written and practical work throughout the year, covering formative and summative assessments.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade F or above including English or maths at grade 2 or above.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of all 5 parts of the study programme, you will have the option to progress on to a Level 2 study programme.

Further information

You will need to purchase a uniform and kit from the college suppliers.All MidKent College students will continue studying English and maths until they are 19, or until they have achieved a Grade C/4. Your study programme will incorporate a Work Placement of up to 350 hours in a role relevant to your study. All students will have access to a Personal Tutor to support their personal and professional development.

    • Set in the Oakwood Park complex, MidKent College's Maidstone Campus provides a pleasant learning environment for students. The site houses a range of quality workshops – including those for Bricklaying, Carpentry, Motor Vehicle and Welding – as well as a large learning resource centre, refectory and welcoming social zone.

      In 2012 major redevelopment work costing a total of £25 million started at the Maidstone Campus, with new state-of-the-art facilities expected to be open by December 2013.

      As part of the rebuild MidKent College has purchased the University for the Creative Arts' Maidstone campus, which is also based at Oakwood Park and now houses the majority of the College's higher education courses.
