IB FIlm at Dover Christ Church Academy

Course description

Film is offered as a two year course. Film IB consists of three modules and is worth an A Level at Higher or an AS at Standard. The course is currently all coursework based.

Course content

Aims of the course:

1. To develop students skills so that they become adept in both interpreting and making film texts.

2. To develop students understanding of film history, theory and socio-economic background.

3. To develop students critical abilities, enabling them to appreciate the multiplicity of culture and historical perspectivfes in film.

4. To develop the professional and technical skills needed to express themselves creatively in film.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs a grade 4 or above including English and Maths.

IB Part 1 (25%) - Textual Analysis

IB Part 2 (25%) - Comparative Study

IB Part 3 (50%) - Creative Process
